Where Does Toleration Lead?
.... how do you use it?
Have you been taught or come to accept that ‘tolerance’ is a virtue? Perhaps this idea is behind those in communities today who are says, “Let’s give T a change.” or “Let’s go along to get along.” or words to that effect.
But, is 'tolerance’ a virtue or an a concept to be applied according to Your Choice?
In the US climate, it seems that those who would destroy many structures created in lawful ways to bring benefit to citizens are expanding their impact. This is where we can look at ‘tolerance’ in light of what occurs.
I could say the following information in ways I have seen tolerance’s role in individual’s lives. however, this is very accurate from Wikipedia.
“The paradox of tolerance is a philosophical concept suggesting that if a society extends tolerance to those who are intolerant, it risks enabling the eventual dominance of intolerance; thereby undermining the very principle of tolerance. This paradox was articulated by philosopher Karl Popper in The Open Society and Its Enemies (1945),[1] where he argued that a truly tolerant society must retain the right to deny tolerance to those who promote intolerance. Popper posited that if intolerant ideologies are allowed unchecked expression, they could exploit open society values to erode or destroy tolerance itself through authoritarian or oppressive practices.”
Simply, whatever is tolerated, takes over the space.
Usually we think of dysfunctional behavior or inappropriate actions and attitudes as what are tolerated.
If you look at the words, ‘take over the space’, in the description, you can think differently. Ask, ‘What do I WANT to fill my life, my home, my family, my community, my country, or the world?’
That view gives you a way to use the paradox in ways to bring benefit.
We, in human form, use words to create our goals, our lives, a new outcome. Many use affirmations. I use Reality Declarations.
Here is a suggestion:
I tolerate self-determination, self-responsibility, sovereignty of self, joy, creative beauty, delight in life, respect, caring, laughter, collaboration, teachers and models of integrity.
I use words differently to place actions, stories, attitudes that I do NOT want to fill my space.
Absolutely all harmonics of domination are made extinct in all fields of my life. (I do not ‘tolerate’ even a small degree.)
Change begins with YOU and begins with the concepts, ideas, visions you resonate with being anchored with words.
Then, comes the steps for you as words bring healing and expansion.

I look forward to reading how you write about things you don't want to take over space.
